Cristiano Ronaldo is undoubtately the best player in the world.
I hope FIFA 08's february update recognizes that and puts his stat where it should be: 100.

great performance. Ronaldo had an amazing goal, well, two actually. Great performance by the team, the possesssion was 65 to 35. After the goals, we just sat back and passed it around them, creating a bunch of chances that shouldve been finished. Rooney has been in terrible scoring form as of late. He'll get there eventually, but he needs a few goals to get him back on track. I dont know how this wasn't at least 4-0.
Great job ronaldo, that was a contender for goal of the year.

breathtaking goals from Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, I was dissapointed when Rooney didn't score. It seems that after he got injured, he never returned fully to the scoresheet.
Come, on Rooney! Over the moon, we've got the roon!
btw, anyone have MOTD highlights?

I'ts getting harder for Rooney to score because he has to compete with Ronaldo and Tevez. That alone is a task. The goals will show but I think he is feeling too much pressure to score. Anderson and Nani used to be goal scorers in Portugal and they haven't started doing that yet for ManU. So it's going to get worse to WR to score.

micojoia- i disagree. The fact that Rooney isnt scoring has nothing to do with competition from his own team. That makes absolutely no sense. His teammates are scoring, but thats not going to affect his form. The reason Rooney isnt scoring is because he lost his momentum when he got injured twice and then the virus, and so he doesnt have confidence. Confidence is everything as a striker, or really for any attacking player. Ronaldo has soo much confidence right now, and it shows in everything he does. That is the reason why hes playing so well. Conversely, Rooney has lost his form (due to injuries) and his confidence (due to not scoring cause of 1st reason) so he isnt playing well. Its all in his head. Hes a great scorer, and a great finisher. Right now, he just doesnt fell like it. psychology is big in sports, thinking like a winner makes you that much closer to being one. Rooney needs to get the 'bad luck' out of his head, cause thats the only thing stopping him from scoring. Not his teammates.
If anything, the fact that his teammates are on fire would boost Rooney, not hold him back. its team momentum.

Congrats Man-U. In fact I am a Big Arsenal fan but I value and admire good soccer and awesome players like CR. I am not trying to be nosy here, but I really don't like Teves at all. I feel he did not add anything to Man-U. He does not have style whatsoever. I watched all goals he scored, pretty much finishing what's already finished..

cory, well said. you took the words out of my mouth. competition in the team is a positive thing and should encourage other players to play better. man united had so many chances and the score line could have been very embarrassing for portsmouth but the main thing is that we win the games, secondly keep possession as much as possible and third, creature as many chances as possible because sooner or later Rooney and the other boys will start putting them away. more chances = goals. i'm very encouraged with the depth of our team. did you see our bench? the players on the bench, tevez, anderson, o'shea, hargreaves, that's 50 million of talent right there man. amazing.

Danny- really, it was a good performance in terms of posession and domination.
These highlights get most of it.
Moe- Thanks for the good input. I have to respectfully disagree about tevez though. tevez isnt much of a flashy player, but he adds a lot in terms of work effort and goals. he scores because he works hard to get into position. His passing is good, and the link up with Rooney is fantastic.

WHAAAT? Man U has was nowhere near as effective as they are now than last year without Tevez. Tevez is always a threat to the opposition, he always makes spectacular plays with either be Ronaldo or Rooney, you can look at some of the assists he's gotten this year and see how his dynamic playing really has helped Man U catch and pass Arsenal.

Another blistering performance from every member of the squad, but especially from Ronaldo. Can't this lad stop scoring? It surprises people nowadays if he fails to score in any match. An early brace from Ronaldo was enough, but that was not what our players thought. We were quite happy with a 2-0 lead, but it was not enough. Everyone kept on attacking - 14 shots on target is the answer. The result doesn't reflect our dominance.
Giggs, Tevez, Anderson and Hargreaves all started on the bench. They all featured later except for Giggs. Anderson did terrific work when he came on, and he deserved a goal too. Nani is the master of shooting from a long range - He was unlucky not to score too. Rooney isn't in the mood of scoring but he enjoyed the match quite well and kept that fighting spirit alive. Scholes was back in the starting line up, and he was terrific. All defenders played exceptionally well expecially Vida and Ferdinand - Just forget trying to score when these two are playing. Ji Sung and Carrick were both decent.
Anyways, everyone was great and it was a bit disappointing not to see more goals but another 3 points, and that's all it matter altough at this point, we do need to score a lot and not concede any goals. We're scoring a decent amount of goals and our backline is being awesome. Could this be the same side that at the start of this season was fighting to score a single goal? Yeah it is ;]
Just keep on rockin Utd !

Why all goals should be spectacular? He already have 13 goals under his belt this season and I can't see anything wrong with him. He fights for the ball, always running and forms a good partnership with Rooney. It is difficult to score a goal, and to score 13 from a lad that has only been with us from the start of the season is already great. Not everyone knows how to score and finish what's already finished.

Man U currently has 48 goals for and 11 goals agains. while Arsenal has 49 goals for and 17 agains making the goal differance 37 (Man U) and 32 (Arsenal) which is why goalscoreing and cleansheets are so important... How would Ronaldo and Tevez being on fire doing anything bad to Rooney? It is just illogical. Of course SAF is going to protect Ronaldo, but how would that relate to Rooney? It wont. SAF wouldnt sell Rooney, or bench him, or force him to play in a way to suit Ronaldo. Rooney and Ronaldo are a team, a pair that work together well. To be honest, SAF is really building his squad around these two. They are players you can build a squad around. So hes not getting rid of either, or forcing them to do anything different, or anything. I honestly dont have clue what you are thinking. Sorry, but your arguement is just completely illogical.
