Raging... I am happy that we understand each other, now.
Of course, I never expected any polite conversations, here. I knew that the atmosphere of a football forum could not be like a Rotary Club meeting.
But I frankly did not expect so many "racially oriented" insults.
I have been living in London, I have many English friends, in England and in Rome, and I had never experienced anything like that before.
I really felt as a target, for my origins, more than for my opinions. And I did not like it.
Anyway, probably I should learn to ignore the comments of some users. After all, if they have a problem of racism, that's their problem, not mine. All I can do is feel bad for them: had they had the chance to learn more, to travel more, to read more, they would be probably more civilizated than they are...
Some of them wrote in English even worse than me! :)

emi, I completely understand why you have posted the things you have here, and I feel that you and I understand each other now. However, the bad news I have for you is, if you're looking for enlightening, intelligent, rational conversation about football or anything else, you should probably not be looking for it on the internet. Raging... you keep being true to your name (except for the narcolepsy... but the rage is there).
I am not resorting to any nationalism: I just HATE nationalism.
All I wrote was a REPLY to you: you wrote that I can not blame the Brits for their claims of superiority, because after all also Italians claim the same. And I simply replied that Italians have a better excuse for that, havin won so many trophies.
Personally, I think Brazilian football is ther best, so there is no nationalism in me.
Then, I am not trying to tell people what they should do. I am just observing what I find amazing.
Even Italians are sometimes nationalistic (we even had the shame of being a fascist ultra-nationalist country, just like England have a past as an imperialist country, so I don't think in terms of "we are better than you": every country has his skeletons in its closet... and after all we're talking about football).
My research into statistics, as you call it, was only a RESPONSE to other guests on this forum (you can easily read them and see that they PRECEDE my boring statistics).
I was pissed of (I still am) because several guests here seemed (and some still seems) to have a strong xenophobic attitude: I have been called "a dirty italian", "fuckin' spagh'muncher", and the list goes on. I only reacted after a while, when I was really fed up with that.
Anybody has the right to say "We are the best", even when it is not true, but nobody has the right to insult "racially" a guest or an entire country, without receiving a proper (or even unproper) reaction.
The posts are all here to be read, so it's easy to see that I am not talking about imaginary stuff.
Then, another note: I never thought British football is "total shit".I simply believe that the pompous claims of superiority are just exaggerated.

Hey emi, listen. First off, remind me where I said this was my forum? Also, whether you're telling lies or the truth, you're still trolling. Besides that, my point is you're resporting to the same cheap nationalism that you think the Britich should be without. What you're doing on this forum is exactl why everyone hates the United States so much, because everyone know's it's superior. I don't give two shits whether or not you think that the British are a bunch of jerks or whatever for claiming British football is the best or not, but I do get irritated when you do the same thing from an Italian point of view, and then act surprised when people start posting ridiculous childish shit on the internet. I know England doesn't have the best national team, I know British fans are thugs, I know Italy has a whole pile of trophies from now and from many years ago, and believe it or not, so does every other British football fan. Your research into statistics has shown the undeniable truth that anyone would be a fool to ignore. I know that's what you wanted to hear, so there you go. Having said that, it doesn't mean that the British aren't allowed to say, "We're the best!" because all the statistics add up in someone elses favor. I mean, what's the point in rooting for a team, or showing some nationalism if you can't do that?

British football has been around just as long as anyone else's and it's not total shit. We're allowed to believe things, that may not necessarily be the truth becasue it makes us feel good. That's the engine that runs the world my internet forum friend. Get used to it.

I'm just a little bit disappointed to notice that Raging Narcoleptic has still not replied to my last posting.
My questions, to him and others that see things his way, are:

1) Why exactly do you think that England is so superior to other countries, when it comes to football? After all, there are many National teams that have won lots of trophies in history, while England does not win very often (to say the least!).

2) Do you really think that "supporting one's football" means resorting to cheap nationalism? For example, I support AS Roma, but I know that the reality is that AS Roma is not the best team in the world. ADmitting that, I am not "betraying" my team: I'm only coming to terms with reality. And it seems that for many Brits admitting that English football is not the first (nor even the second, nor third) football in the world is like "betraying" their country. A real non-sense.

Raging N. wrote that Italians claim the same. True. But Italy has won FOUR World Cups (and Brasil has won FIVE). So Italians and Brasilians do have some reasons to talk about their "superiority". But what about English people? England has won only one single World Cup (and every fair Englishman knows that it was not even a very well deserved victory). So, exactly, what is the reason to think that English football is superior? Maybe genetics?

You say that also italians have similar claims. True. But after having won the FOURTH world cup, you may justify it, isn't it? It is NOT a "small detail".
While it still is a mistery why british people are convinced their local football is "the best". Really: exactly WHAT makes it so "superior"???
After all, England does not win WC often. Oh, and the only one ever won was won with the help of a goal that NEVER should have been given as a goal (the ball never crossed the line).

First of all: I don't agree with the harsh words used by Michael. I believe we should all try to be a little more respectful.
Regarding the ridiculous idea that many Brits have about their teams' supposed (and only supposed) superiority, regardless of the results... well, that's simply a fact: the more Brits lose, the more they think their football is "genetically" superior.
Recently, a funny episode confirmed that: the Times published a list of the 50 most important goals in football history: 32 out of 50 were goals scored by Brit teams. There were no goals scored by Maradona in the list (!!!), and the first in the list was (of course!) an english goal... that was not even a real goal.

After reading most of those comments, my knowledge of brits being stubborn, conceited, drunkish people has been even more affirmed (and I dont even live in europe).

British football isnt superior. Its physical and definitely a good league, but it is a different kind of football than spanish or mexican or korean or italian, you just cant compare it.
