    IF IT WAS'NT FOR WAYNE ROONEY WE WOULD HAVE A REPLAY AT OLD TRAFFORD...SAHA WAS TERRIBLE...I THINK IT'S TIME HE WAS SOLD. CARRICK IS TO SLOW IN MOVEMENT...I'M STARTIN TO HATE THE WAY HE PLAYS.     It was a dull game, neighter team had serious chances to open the score until the introduction of Wayne Rooney, with 20 minutes left...

    I'm not saying that without Rooney, we're nothing.. But surely he makes a big difference.. His passing, his enthusiasm, his pace, his energy - he gives his everything in the match.

    Also great credit goes to the back four, and also VDS.

    Anyways, Rooney is back, hopefully Tevez will be back soon too so the Old United play should be back.

    Yeah, a win is all we needed and that's what we've got but without Rooney we wouldn't have been able to do it.

    i don't think saha is that bad, at least he can still hold the ball until someone arrive, but carrick sucks! big time if u would ask me. He stop the flow of attacking and made so many mistakes, he like to pass the ball back to defenders, which annoys me. I prefer if owen was playing in that position [-(

    I agree with Spawn... I hate critisizing Saha.. He is one of my favourite players and if Fergie sells him then we gotta say some words ! :-w
    We need Saha because we don't have enough strikers.. Yeah, we have Manucho coming in after the African Cup but what if he doesn't settle quickly??

    Anywayzzz... With Manucho or not Saha should stay!! I don't bare seeing the moment he leaves.. now wayy man..

    Oh Carrick, Carrickk... Where's the enthusiasm and energy I saw in him last season?! I don't know whats happening with him man.. Maybe he needs games to improve himself.. I don't know.. In this case too, we shouldn't sell Carrick. Let's not lose courage on this man who gave awesome contribution last season !

    Oh yeah.. as you may say, I really do talk from my heart not from my brain.. You can slamp me for this. But I love United players more than I love anything... & I don't lose courage in them easilyy.

    Well definitely ROXII and B-Boy should take their love discussion somewhere else as they sound irritating and irrelevant. Here is my 2 cents:

    1. Rooney's goal was example of composure and skill as it was not an easy one, but then earlier he missed one sublime pass from Ronaldo
    2. Ronaldo made some awesome assists before scoring the first goal - the first one was the rebound from Carson spilled by Giggs and then another one which Rooney missed, the 3rd resulting in the second goal.

    Besides spirited display from Giggs, Anderson and the back 4. So United we stand , certainly not a one-man team at the moment !!

    Rooney best english player atm no doubt about that :) Man UTD is a very good team and the thing that makes them so is the number of youngsters that are looking to improve even further.

    Saha 's only problem is his injuries, otherwise he's a good striker to have even if he's not as much as a prodigy as rooney and tevez. Carrick is a brilliant midfielder and just because he's not at his best we fans shouldn't give up on him so easily ...

    P.S Carrick impressed a lot of ppl with his passing in world cup 2006, as well as with his composure and skill last season :P

    Well, maybe you should learn how to add some more humuor to your character... Because urm, you sound rather strange and a dull person. Maybe a new year's resolution won't make you any harm hun..

    And bdw, we all know that Rooney missed some chances. But we also know that from the little time had had in his dispose to score, he did his job very well. Created the first goal: Rooney, Anderson, Giggs then Ronnie.
    & Scoring the 2nd one.

    Playing the full 90 mins, no one was capable to score, but we all know what Rooney is capable of as we all know that without him we are weak !

    I've already lost Smith last season, I liked him so much.. I cannot bare to see Saha leaving now !

    I know that there's no love in football's business but I'm not Glazer or Fergie. I'm just a supporter that loves those players so much.

    same here, i think smith is a very good striker as long as he has a good midfield behind him. if united were to buy berbatov, the club would most liekly have to sell carrick, saha, and brown (who's played fantastically in place of neville) to cover the 30 mil price tag. on an unrelated note, i have the combined good looks of c. ronaldo and beckham with an added ruggedness, and the ability to make women faint with a single glance. i just thought i should put that out there.

    Back to business...
    I think that Brown is on the edge of leaving United.. He doesn't want to sign the new contract, and he's playing ******' awesome these days.. ha yeah, so he can impress some managers.
    We can't afford losing him.. He's a great defender and is filling Neville's abstence very very good.
    But, saying that, we cannot let his contract expires, which it does next Summer... I mean, its not ****** worth it for us to let him leave on a free transfer.. At the moment he is worth 8-12 million, so why should we be carless with his contract?

    If Brown leaves, there is no need to worry. Fergie knows whats he is doing and believe me, there's Pique.. He already showed what he is capable of - 2 matches in the Champions League = 2 goals.

    Fergie offered him a new contract.. its up to him now - Take it or leave it.

    there is no doubting that carrick and saha WERE great, the question is if they still are...

    Saha- supposedly the target man, but ive watched him play, and he never gets any long balls. We can't cross because hes never in the right position and he never outjumps the opponents. He IS something different, but right now, hes only showing what he can't do, which is just about everything. As much as i appreciate him, he just isn't performing. Should we sell? Not if we dont buy. If it were possible, I would get Campbell back from loan, and loan Saha out till he can get his rythem back. Easier opposition and a few goals would work wonders imo.

    -Carrick- where have you gone, and what did you do with our Carrick?! Your obviously not him, your not the well rounded mid that he was. You can't pass, you have no vision, you don't do anything productive! really, who are you? The only time carrick plays good anymore is with fletcher. The 2 work well together. Carrick does NOT work with Hargo (lack of creativity) nor anderson (idk why, but thats what was wrong this game).

    roxii, your point is duly noted. on to other things, has brown given a reason as to why he's been so reluctant to sign a new contract? he came up through the ranks at united, and within a year or two he will be the primary starter at right back because of neville's impending retirement. this whole situation just makes no sense to me. what footballer would give up a very good contract and assured first team football at the best club in england?

    No ronron, Brown was not assured first team football. Maybe, it does not sound fair, but obviously, Fergie prefers the team's captain that is Neville rather than Brown, and he is surely gonna make Gary his main priority. As I said, it may not sound fair, 'cause Brown is playing excellent, but that's how things are.

    In my opinion, I think that the most reason that makes sense is that Brown may be aware that when Neville returns, he will be back in the sidelines and he got used to first team football now, and will not tolerate himself to be on the sidelines.

    To be honest, I don't blame him. You saw Van Nistelrooy, he left immadiately when he realised that Saha took his place.

    Not everyone is like Fletcher and O'Shea - They may not be world class players but I'll tell ya, they're up there in the top of the most loyal players. They are great servants to the club, just how Solskjaer was.

    Brown is surely aware of the whole situation. We just have to wiat and see. I don't want him to leave, but if a player is not happy in the club then what's the point in keeping him? Let him go in January, or else letting him go in a free transfer would be total S.T.U.P.I.D.

    Yeah Abdi, you also pointed out Capello - And fortunately, both Ferdinand nd Rooney made an awesome performance.. I also read that he's planning to make Ferdinand his new captain.. I'm lovin' it =P

    Oh, and today he also went to watch Liverpool's match, but it seems as if they didn't make any good impression on him - A 1-1 draw against Luton ..

    Well my definition of humour would be without getting involved personally ...as for Rooney no doubt he is a hot talent so is Ronaldo both make a deadly combination for Man Utd but not England and as Shebby Singh has stated in the analysis Rooney shd wear the captain's armband for England that wd be crazy thinking let him focus on his game for good

    Well, that's YOUR definition of humour but it doesn't mean its the proper meaning.

    As far as I'm concerned no one said that Rooney should wear the captain's armband - Not me for sure. But Ferdinand is capable of wearing it - He was United's captain for not once and he is a disciplined player and an ideal one.

    and i thought you might care to know, You should never use 'man' and 'u' together to describe united.

    the reason is it was an insult made by city and liverpool fans to tick us off after munich 50 years ago. on most historically knowledgeable boards, that term is taboo. some songs went something like Man United (without nited) Never Intended Coming Home. The words spell out Munich, and it is disrepectful to the players and families who died that tragic day.

    its ok you didnt know, i didnt for a while, but thats a bit of history for ya. I thought you might want to know, cause in your rant to pratik and in other cases you have used the term.

    and as to pratik's statement, its hard to read, but it makes a bit more sense if you read "y" as you.

    Well, I live in Malta, a place where football is full of corruction... and a place where there are not many female football fans so to see me so interested in football is abdnormal.. But I just don't care.

    You should ignore these stupid people who just ridicule you. They're just not worth it to spend your time on. They have their onw hobbies and you have your own. Just tell them that football can NEVER be compared to that ****** ice hockey.
    Football is watched by ALL of the world whereas Ice hockey is only watched in small places.

    One advice: Just ignore them and walk proudly with your favuorite football team shirt to show that their words are gonna be treated in your *** ;)

    personally, i think we are fine defensively:

    LB: Evra, Oshea, Silvestre (ish)
    CB: Ferdinand, Vidic, Brown, Pique, Evans
    RB: Neville, Brown, Pique, Simpson, Evans

    weve got plenty of back up. Our academy has many good defenders.

    We also have 2 young (18) brazillian twins that are RB/LB respectively. they are supposed to be REALLY good. The left back was like captain of brazil u18, and as a LB was TOP SCORER in an international tournament!!!

    Theyve been pre-signed. theyll be arriving soon now, or theyre here. I think they were supposed to have come over this winter, maybe in febuary.

    something like that. but weve got defense cover.

    i might say a striker, but thats not really required.

    Rooney, Tevez, Saha, Manucho (soon)

    Giggs, Ronaldo, and young brandy, welbeck, and Dong are also available. brandy and welbeck are especially exciting. we have a young signing, (16-ish) macheda from lazio. hes promising.

    On paper, it seems okay... but saha is struggling. id rather not take giggs or ronaldo off the wings. manucho isnt here yet, hes an unknown. id like to see benzema, or huntelaar signed. not a requirement at all though.If we sell saha, which seems more and more like a possibility, the nit would be good to sign someone.

    In my opinion I think we need a striker more than everything. Saha is struggling and we don't know if Manucho will take time to settle. Our 2 fully strikers that I can really put my mind on are Tevez and Rooney - surely not enough, because we saw in the previous matches that we struggle without one of them. We just don't need a young striker - but a professional one, who already proved what he's capable of - Berbatov comes to mind.

    I have to agree with roxii. we need a striker. I think berbatove would be a great buy but his asking price is high. They would be better buying gudjhonsen from barcelona for a cheaper price or jan class huntelaar from ajax.

    Yeah, Karan I know that Berbatov's asking price is high, but we don't need anything else rather than a professional striker. Fergie already said that he doesn't need to buy any players [ Tho I should say, that a striker is essential ! ], so if Berbatov plays like he is doing at Tottenham and scores a lot of goals than those money will be worth it.

    I just heard that carrick is set to start against newcastle as hargreves is injured. saha seems to be hurt too. So now we just have Tevez and Rooney as the fit strikers. That's the only problem with saha, once he gets injured he is out usually for a long time. its time he goes and some else come in preferablly James Mcfadden

    I completely agree that Berbatov would be a brilliant signing, but I think he performs best when he is playing on a regular basis. If Rooney and Tevez don't suffer another injury in the near future, Berbatov might be left out, which would be a real waste of world class talent.

    The first 5 are all good enough. Evans is still a bit young, but he'll be good in a year or so.
