With Euro 2008 now approaching it really is a shame England will not be competiting. Croatia fully deserved their place as they outclassed England twice with a pure show of team work and effort. If Capello can get England to do those things then there is no reason why England cannot compete at the top level once again.

wot am u lot on about im english we underestimated our group i knew croatia would win the group and we would lose in russia but were not out of it yet. scotland lost 2-0 to gorgia, so israel will beat russia and andorra will do the goods over russia come on england white n red army

I belive Israel/Shalomland will tie or beat russia, they have lost only to Croatia at home of all the national games played (that's pretty impressive). It will give the Brits some life, however, Russia will beat Andorra and Croatia will deliver a good old fashioned football beating to England AGAIN.

i think england is alot like australia, i am australian and i cant stand the national team, its always picked by names not form and quality. england (like australia) need a smart coach who choses the team by their form and fitness, not just their name.

I think both teams have qualified players, may be even Englands' ones are more known and more experienced in some sense, but in crucial games right tactics and willingness to win is more important, than individual "values" of the players. What happened after the equalizer goal clearly says that Hidding had foreseen this kind of game storyline and made instructions accordingly. So probably McLauren was not so detailed in his plans, what eventually led to loss of his team.

One of the most racist comments ive seen. the african players are actually the best i think. look at richards, lescott, pennant, wright phillips. All class. just look at africas teams class.

Hard to see Rooney's shirt pull from this angle. Assuming he has grabbed his shirt, this camera angle reveals a dive by the Russian-- he felt the shirt grab, saw the penalty area, decided to make the most of it. But referee's angle probably looked quite different. Plus he has to make a decision in a split second instead of looking at five replays as I have.

English fans had no issue to react, they lost but thats not why they fight unlike many other teams. We lost clean, no argument there. But if you want to talk about fans reacting 20:1 isn't an issue.Remember there are always consequences to pay. :d/

A real shame for England especially after such a great goal from Wayne Rooney. Gerrard really should have finished the game off with that volley and they were made to pay for their mistakes in a crazy five minute spell. Qualifcation now looks unlikely, does anyone think they have a chance?
